INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — The Tennessee Titans believe a whole new look might solve their Andrew Luck problem.Hey Curley Culp Jersey , nothing else has worked.Since the Indianapolis Colts drafted Luck with the No. 1 overall pick in 2012, he's started nine games against the Titans and never lost — not when he played poorly, not when he left early, not even when he got hurt. So this time, the Titans are going with a different strategy in hopes of outwitting an old nemesis. "They give you multiple looks, they're probably more multiple than any team in the league," Colts coach Frank Reich said. "I look at it much like an offense, in terms of what we try to do on offense with packages, they do it on defense. They do it well."The Titans (5-4) have stolen a page right out of New England's playbook and made it work. They've allowed the fewest points per game, fewest touchdowns scored and lowest passer rating against the blitz in the league. They've moved into second place in the AFC South, one game behind Houston, by pitching consecutive second-half shutouts against Dallas' Dak Prescott and New England's Tom Brady. Now comes the hard part: Beating Luck."For me it's always personal going against this guy," said Jurrell Casey, the Titans' three-time Pro Bowl defensive lineman whose struggles against Luck also include two college losses. "I'm always talking mess but right now I can't talk too much mess. He's got the upper hand."Tennessee knows the story all too well. Before sweeping Indy (4-5) last season, when Luck sat out following shoulder surgery, the Titans had lost 11 straight in the series to three different Indy quarterbacks — Luck, former Titans starter Matt Hasselbeck and Dan Orlovsky, who ended the Colts' 0-13 start with a win over Tennessee in 2011.Even in the game Luck initially injured the shoulder, Week 3 in 2015, his late rally gave the Colts their first win of the season. But this week's challenge could be even more daunting with Luck playing some of the best football of his career. He's thrown at least one touchdown pass in a league-high 32 consecutive games and three or more TDs in six straight games, fourth all time behind Tom Brady, Peyton Manning and Dan Marino. Luck's completion rate, 66.3 percent Delanie Walker Jersey , is a career best and he hasn't been sacked in 185 dropbacks, another career high. Not surprisingly, the Colts have won three straight and can get back to .500 — if Luck wins again."I'm aware of it," Luck said, downplaying his 9-0 mark. "But what's happened has happened and good, bad or ugly, it doesn't really matter."GEARING UPThe health of Tennessee quarterback Marcus Mariota has improved dramatically since an elbow injury produced numbness in his throwing hand in the season opener, and it's shown. In the past two games, he's completed 69.9 percent of his passes with 468 yards, four TD passes, no interceptions and a 122.2 passer rating in victories over Dallas and New England. Mariota also caught a 21-yard pass and ran for 21 yards in last week's victory over the Patriots.LONG-TIME ACQUAINTANCESColts kicker Adam Vinatieri has been around so long he could break George Blanda's NFL record for most career regular-season wins (209) on Sunday. And he could set the new mark against one of his former teammates, new Titans coach Mike Vrabel. Vinatieri entered the league in 1996, one year before Vrabel was drafted, and then spent five years together in New England in the early 2000s before Vinatieri joined the Colts as a free agent in 2006.SHUTDOWN DIt's not just the obvious stats showing how well the Titans have played defensively. New England managed only six first downs, 117 yards and converted 1 of 7 third downs last week in the second half. The improvement also coincides with the return of strong safety Kenny Vaccaro, who missed three games because of an injured elbow. "I think it's a credit to the players, that's what it is," Vrabel said. "They get a call, and the players go out and execute. That's really what it comes down to."REGGIE'S RETURNFormer Colts receiver Reggie Wayne returns to Lucas Oil Stadium for his induction into Indy's Ring of Honor. Wayne spent his entire 14-year career with the Colts, playing in a franchise-record 211 games and catching 1,070 passes for 14,345 yards and 82 TDs. He's 10th in the NFL all time in receptions and yards receiving and was part of both of Indy's Super Bowl teams. Manning, Marvin Harrison Rashaan Evans Jersey , Edgerrin James, Jeff Saturday, all former teammates, have already been inducted. Tony Dungy, who coached Wayne, and former general manager Bill Polian, who drafted Wayne in 2001, have also been inducted. I have always been a big fan of Dan Kadar’s work, but I like him even more after his newest mock draft that dropped yesterday. This time he went 3 full rounds, and I’ll be honest, I would be thrilled if the Titans came away with these 3 rounds. This draft gives the Titans two potential stars with their first two picks. In the first round he has the Titans taking Jachai Polite, EDGE, Florida. His comments:The thought of Landry on one side and Polite on the other has the chance to terrify opposing quarterbacks for the next decade or so. I love that.In the second round, Dan has the Titans taking N’Keal Harry, WR, Arizona State. Do yourself a favor and go watch some highlights from Harry. I think you can make the case that he is the best receiver in the draft. This would be a STEAL for the Titans at pick 51.Kadar gave the Titans Connor McGovern, G, Penn State in the third round. I don’t know anything about McGovern, but iOL is a big need for the Titans this offseason. Find the best guy there in the middle rounds and turn him into a good player. How would you feel about this draft for the Titans?
Tampa Bay’s top five moments on Monday Night Football Even though they are one of the NFL’s least-successful franchises Mike Alstott Jersey , the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have found plenty of success on Monday Night Football. The Bucs are 11-10 all-time on Monday nights, with their most recent appearance ending in a 24-21 loss to the Atlanta Falcons in 2017. Tampa Bay has played host in 13 of those games, holding a 9-4 record - which is a good omen for tonight’s game. There have been plenty of memorable moments, but which ones stand out the most? Check out the Bucs’ top five moments on Monday Night Football below.5. The Bucs steal the spotlight - Tampa Bay 24, Green Bay 22The 1998 season gave Tampa Bay their first Monday Night Football game in 15 years. What better opportunity for the remade franchise to strut their stuff against the defending NFC Champion Green Bay Packers? Two early touchdown passes from Trent Dilfer and eight sacks - and eight forced fumbles, two were recovered - from the defense gave the Bucs a two-point victory and helped spark the team’s resurgence under Tony Dungy. 4. The eventual Super Bowl champs go down - Tampa Bay 22, Baltimore 10Everyone knows about the Ravens’ incredible defense during the 2001 season. They are arguably one of the best defenses of all-time. But when the Ravens came to Raymond James Stadium that year, it was the Bucs’ defense that showed up when it mattered most between the two eventual world champions. Ray Lewis and the Ravens’ defense were one of the best of all-timePhoto by Patrick Smith/Getty ImagesTampa Bay sacked Elvis Grbac five times, forced three turnovers, and held the Ravens to 4-of-17 on third down. Brad Johnson passed for just 90 yards on the day, but a 32-yard run by Mike Alstott in the fourth quarter sealed the deal and gave the Bucs a huge win. 3. Warner throws four picks - Tampa Bay 26, St. Louis 14The 2002 season was a magical one and it was kick-started by the Bucs’ gigantic win over Kurt Warner and the St. Louis Rams on Monday night. The defense sacked Warner five times and picked him off four times. They held Marshall Faulk to just 36 yards and a touchdown on eight touches. It all came to fruition as the future 2002 Defensive Player of the Year Derrick Brooks picked off Warner and it took it to the house to end any hope of a Rams’ comeback. It was Jon Gruden’s first win at Raymond James Stadium and a special one at that. 2. Losers in the Linc - Tampa Bay 17, Philadelphia 0 Fresh off of their Super Bowl victory, the Bucs looked like they hadn’t skipped a beat after demolishing the rival Eagles in the season opener. Tampa Bay had previously shut down the Vet after Ronde Barber’s pick-six on Donovan McNabb punched the Bucs’ ticket to the Super Bowl and this time it was two amazing catches by Joe Jurevicius that helped win the game. The defense smothered McNabb and the Eagles to the tune of just 245 total yards, two turnovers, and a 2-for-11 conversion rate on third down. The Bucs also dominated in terms of time of possession, outpacing the Eagles by 15 minutes. Unfortunately for the Bucs, the rest of the 2003 season didn’t fare so well, but opening week was one to remember. 1. The comeback - Tampa Bay 38 Jamel Dean Jersey , St. Louis 35The Bucs and Rams have a pretty intense history on Monday Night Football and this game was the perfect example. Tampa Bay was up 24-14 at halftime before a 27-yard touchdown pass from Warner to Faulk brought the Rams back within three, 24-21.Warrick Dunn took a swing pass 52 yards to the house to put the Bucs up by 10, but it wasn’t enough to stop the Rams. Warner led a furious rally that saw St. Louis take the lead on a 72-yard touchdown pass to Torry Holt that gave the Rams a 35-31 lead with just over five minutes left to play. If you know your Bucs history, then I’m sure you are quite aware of what happens next. Facing a 2nd-and-10 from their own 34-yard line, Shaun King tried to dump it off to Dunn, only to see him corralled in the backfield by the Rams’ Kevin Carter. Just as it looked like Dunn was about to go down, he famously lateraled it back to King, who then avoided about seven different Rams in spectacular fashion as he ran for a 15-yard gain to give the Bucs a first down. It was one of the more electric plays in franchise history and catapulted the Bucs to victory as Dunn punched it in from one yard out a few plays later.Arguably the most exciting regular-season victory, it was one that all fans will remember for a very long time. Buccaneers coach Bruce Arians inherits a team that was bad enough last year to earn the fifth overall pick in the draft. On Thursday night, they’ll use it. Unless they trade it.“There would have to be some hellacious picks [offered],” Arians said Tuesday, via Rick Stroud of the . “There’s five guys on the board I love. You’d have to throw the bank and open the vault for [G.M.] Jason [Licht] to move down. I’m not saying that we wouldn’t. Just looking at the guys that are there. There’s really six guys that are once-in-a-generation-type players. I feel great about this draft.”If that’s the case, there’s no reason to trade down. But this is also a very deep draft, and Arians knows that in the crapshoot lottery that the draft will always be, it’s always better to have more scratch-off tickets. The question is how many more tickets would it take to get them to give up Ticket No. 5.The Bucs are actually in a good spot to do a deal, given that the Giants pick at No. 6. If a player like quarterback Dwayne Haskins is still on the board and if other teams sense that this eleventh-hour push for quarterback Daniel Jones is nothing more than an effort to get people off the potential Giants-want-Haskins scent, a team that really wants Haskins could decide to leapfrog Dave Gettleman and company.Of course, the Giants would never admit that they wanted Haskins if someone trades up to get him before they can. Such a thing would not look good on Dave Gettleman’s resume.

Per Ian Rapoport, the Ohio State defensive end is meeting with the 49ers Thursday. There’s not much that can be said about Bosa that hasn’t been already. He’s considered the best player in the 2019 NFL Draft and a possible lock to the San Francisco 49ers at No. 2. This is dependent on a few things. For one, the Arizona Cardinals will need to go with all the speculation and take Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray. For another, Kentucky linebacker Josh Allen and Alabama defensive tackle Quinnen Williams would have to prove they aren’t on-par or better than Bosa to give the front office any ideas. The 49ers are predicted to take a pass rusher with the No. 2 pick. Whether it’s Bosa, Allen, or someone else is the big question. The pool got a nice look by Kyle Shanahan when he got to coach the Senior Bowl, but they aren’t using their visits upon pass rushers specifically. Michigan defensive end Rashan Gary was reported to not be having a private visit. Bosa’s been making the news in other ways with his recent scrubbing of Twitter and trying to get under the radar with some political stances that may contrast with the majority in the San Francisco area. Political affiliations aside, if drafted he has the potential to transform the 49ers defensive line from a point of weakness to apoint of strength. Putting him with Dee Ford, DeForest Buckner and Solomon Thomas—who indicates his best football is just ahead of him— would be filthy. Let’s see how his visit and interviews go.Final score, recap, injury news from 49ers-Cardinals in Week 5 49ers-Cardinals final scoreThe 49ers lost by a final score of 28-18. It was a day full of bad news for San Francisco. Matt Breida suffered an ankle injury that cost him the second half of the game and his status is TBD for Week 6. C.J. Beathard was stripped twice of the ball, including one by Chandler Jones that put the Cardinals up 21-12 and effectively sealed the game. The pass catchers struggled with drops, and the offense struggled in spite of dominating time of possession and total yards gained. The 49ers drop to 1-4 with the loss, while the Cardinals improve to 1-4.Matt Breida ruled out with ankle injuryThe 49ers running back left the game in the second quarter after Budda Baker landed on his ankle during a tackle attempt. The trainers taped up Breida’s ankles, but he eventually walked to the locker room. He will not be returning, per FOX sideline reporter Jennifer Hale.Halftime score updateArizona took a 14-6 lead on a touchdown scored after a 49ers turnover. Raheem Mostert had the ball stripped inside Arizona territory with 13:27 remaining in the second quarter. Patrick Peterson picked the ball up and ran it to the 49ers 18 yard line. 4 plays later, David Johnson ran in from the two for the score.1st quarter injury updatePierre Gar莽on left the field after a couple drives and was taken to the locker room without his jersey or pads on. It is reported as a shoulder injury, and he is questionable to return. After that, Matt Breida suffered an injury when Cardinals safety Budda Baker landed on his lower leg during a tackle attempt. He limped off the field with his arms around the shoulders of a trainer and Kyle Juszczyk. He was spotted getting his ankle wrapped with more tape and is listed as questionable to return.49ers, Cardinals exchange touchdowns to open the gameMaybe we’ve got a shootout planned for Week 5 at Levi’s Stadium. The 49ers got on the board first with an impressive opening drive. C.J. Beathard completed all five of his passes for 59 yards, including a five-yard shovel pass to Matt Breida for a game-opening touchdown. Robbie Gould did not get the point after attempt off for a reason that seemed unclear. On the ensuing Cardinals drive, everything that went well for the 49ers offense went poorly for the 49ers defense. On the first play, they got no pressure on Josh Rosen, who found a wide open Christian Kirk for a 75-yard touchdown. Phil Dawson converted the extra point and Arizona leads 7-6 midway through the first quarter.InactivesThe 49ers have cornerback Richard Sherman back in action, but no wide receiver Marquise Goodwin. They will be without Jimmie Ward due to a hamstring injury, which means Ahkello Witherspoon or Greg Mabin will get the start opposite Sherman — expect some rotation between Witherspoon and Mabin. Defensive end Ryan Delaire is active after being promoted from the practice squad on Saturday. He is active over defensive tackle D.J. Jones as the 49ers look to boost the pass rush.49ers inactives: WR Marquise Goodwin Womens Fred Warner Jersey , WR Dante Pettis, CB Jimmie Ward, OG Joshua Garnett, DT Jullian Taylor, OT Shon Coleman, DT D.J. JonesCardinals inactives: QB Sam Bradford, RB T.J. Logan, DE Markus Golden, OL Jeremy Vujnovich, OL Korey Cunningham, OL Blaine Clausell, DT Robert Nkemdiche49ers roll with a great end zone lookThe 49ers have a fantastic look in their end zone, going with an old school helmet look. They should roll with this more often, although a red background would be a great addition.Injury updateInactives will arrive at 11:55 a.m. PT, but in the meantime, we have pre-game injury updates. Wide receiver Marquise Goodwin is expected to be inactive with quadricep and hamstring issues. The team activated Victor Bolden from the suspended list on Saturday, which foreshadowed a potential inactive Goodwin. Cornerback Richard Sherman is expected to be active after missing last week’s game with a calf injury. He would start, although we don’t know who of Ahkello Witherspoon, Jimmie Ward, or Greg Mabin would start opposite Sherman.PreviewThe San Francisco 49ers are getting ready for their first divisional matchup of the year, taking on the Arizona Cardinals. This may be a bad Cardinals squad, but one that may have a step up in defense than the banged up Chargers group they recently faced. The Cardinals are looking for their first win of the season as well. This will be an afternoon game kicking off at 1:25 PM.The game will air on FOX and you can see who gets it by looking at our broadcast map. Dick Stockton and Mark Schlereth will be in the booth, while Jennifer Hale is on the sidelines. C.J. Beathard made his first start of 2018 as a surprise to everyone. He completed 62.2 percent of his passes and also was laying the ball in key positions on his receivers could get. The problem was, the receivers were not catching the ball. One such pass bounced off the hands of Garrett Celek and turned into an interception. Others were just a matter of timing things wrong from his pass catchers. Beathard also had to deal with numerous offensive line injuries as the game went on, almost getting knocked out himself on a play late in the game. The Cardinals may be a step down from the Chargers, but their defense is still no joke and the fact it’s a divisional game means it’s going to be a rough day for both teams. For Week 5, the Cardinals have been fighting their own injury issues. Wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald (hamstring) is questionable (and has been held to under 200 yards for the season). DT Robert Nkemdiche is also questionable with a foot issue. For the 49ers, wide receiver Dante Pettis (knee) is out this week. Cornerback Jimmie Ward has been listed as questionable after tweaking his hamstring Thursday. Wide Receiver Marquese Goodwin (hamstring, quad) is a game time decision. Joe Staley (knee) was quoted by Kyle Shanahan as coming to the facility early to get ready so he should be good to go Sunday. Last week we looked at the distribution of players on NFL rosters from Week 1 of the 2018 season by age to get a high level look at what kind of aging curve the Seattle Seahawks might be looking at..."Last week we looked at the distribution of players on NFL rosters from Week 1 of the 2018 season by age to get a high level look at what kind of aging curve the Seattle Seahawks might be looking at as they negotiate a third contract with All Pro linebacker Bobby Wagner. There is no doubt that the age distribution for a specific position group will be distorted by survivorship bias Womens George Fant Jersey , as younger players that may be on rosters early in their careers but fail to develop won’t stick around long. In addition, many special teams players may not make large contributions on defense, but might stick around in the league on a roster as primarily a special teamer for several years while never playing many meaningful snaps on the defensive side of the ball. Thus, in order to get a better look at what an aging curve for Wagner might look like, I narrowed things down using the methodology of a commenter suggested in the original article. Specifically, what I did was I looked at all linebackers who started twelve or more games in their rookie season and then looked at the age at which each of these players last started ten or more games. The data I looked at was players whose rookie season was between 1997 and 2009, a time period which allowed for a sample of 55 such linebackers. That is far from a huge sample, but it is large enough to begin to draw some basic understanding of the aging curve, while also representing players who are old enough that they are no longer active. Of the 55 linebackers who entered the league during this time period, only three remain active, including Derrick Johnson, Brian Orakpo and Clay Matthews. Two of those three players are edge defenders as opposed to interior off ball linebackers like Wagner, but just keep those names in mind because as they are still in the league, they could theoretically continue to pull the aging curve to the right in Wagner’s favor (they are represented in the data as points at 32, 32 and 35). Without too much more discussion, here is the data. Aging curve for NFL linebackers who started at least 12 games in their rookie seasonAge last started 10 gamesNumber of PlayersAge last started 10 gamesNumber of PlayersNow, I’m much more of a visual learner, and I’m sure many readers are as well, so here is that same data in chart form. Now, that obviously shows that linebackers careers enter the danger zone at some point in their late twenties, and that while the odds of Wagner continuing to contribute for the Hawks remains high, they start to diminish rapidly over the coming seasons. One topic of note specifically is that player aging is not a smooth and natural decline over time. Player aging in the NFL can be much more accurately looked at along the lines of a mortality distribution, as so many players are able to perform at a high level until all of a sudden a single injury forces them out of the game. Thus, looking at the preceding data from that standpoint, here is what the distribution of this data looks like when evaluated from a survivorship perspective. What that chart shows us is that of linebackers that start at least twelve games during their rookie season, we can expect around eighty percent of them to start at least ten games in their age 28 season. Once those players get past their age 28 seasons, however, is when a rapid decline is often seen. Thus, Wagner having started fifteen games in his age 28 season has entered the period of his career where things could get derailed by a single play. Obviously, that is not to say that he will be finished anytime soon, as full twenty percent of the players in the sample started double digit games in their age 33 season or later (this represents twenty-five percent of the players that made it to their age 28 season). That does, however, carry the implication that there is a three in four chance of Wagner not making it to his age 33 season. In fact, by the data in the sample, the odds of him starting ten or more games anytime in his age 31 season or older are roughly a coin flip. This is important to keep in mind simply because Wagner is already under contract for his age 29 season, meaning that any extension would begin with his age 30 season. Thus, that age 31 season where his availability based on the data from the sample is worse than winning a coin flip is going to be the second year of any extension, and that is considering the fact that he started ten or more games in his age 28 season. Now, I know some commenters are going to jump right to the comments and chime in that the data are not representative of Wagner because of the fact that he’s different because he’s a five time Pro Bowl, four time All Pro linebacker, but that is not going to make much of a difference. Yes, his skills and ability will be coming from a higher peak, so he will not likely be subject to a skill decline that prevents him from playing at a high level going forward, but the data is filled with samples of just such players. For example, while he’s not in the data set, K.J. Wright is an example of how age can sneak up on a player in their late twenties. Between the time he was drafted in 2011 and 2017 Wright missed just five games over seven seasons, and then in 2018 missed eleven games due to a knee injury. Similar examples from high level players at different positions for the Seahawks can be seen in names like Kam Chancellor Chris Carson Jersey Green , Richard Sherman and Doug Baldwin. Chancellor missed just ten games due to injury (this excludes the two games he missed in 2015 due to his holdout) over the first seven seasons of his career before a garbage time neck injury brought his career to a sudden halt at age 29. Sherman didn’t miss a snap over a more than ninety game streak covering parts of seven seasons until all of a sudden a single injury ended his time with the Hawks. Baldwin had missed just two games over his career, until a myriad of injuries caused him to miss three games in his age thirty season, and put his future in question following at least three offseason surgeries. Looking specifically at the linebacker position, there are plenty of examples, including Al Wilson who was an All Pro linebacker for the Denver Broncos until a neck injury during his age 29 season brought his career to an abrupt halt. Jamie Sharper played every single game for the Houston Texans and Baltimore Ravens over a period of eight seasons, but a single injury eight games into his age 30 season ended his career. Patrick Willis was a seven time Pro Bowler and five time All Pro, until a toe issue caused him to miss ten games at age 29 and led him to hang up his cleats. In short, here’s the linebacker survivorship chart once a player has started at least ten games in their age 28 season. In summary, Wagner is likely to continue to perform at a high level, but the odds of an injury bringing his career to a close are not insignificant. Thus, while the team has seen poor outcomes from third contracts it has handed out in the past, including to Chancellor and Marshawn Lynch, that doesn’t mean it should not work to extend Wagner. The team has the ability and opportunity to Wagner, but it should most certainly take advantage contract structures which carry less risk for the team than some of the contracts the front office has signed in the past. ATLANTA (AP) — The Rams moved from St. Louis to Los Angeles, had seven head coaches and used 20 starting quarterbacks since losing to the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl 17 years ago.Meanwhile, Bill Belichick and Tom Brady are still here and they’re going for their sixth NFL title in the rematch Sunday.Steven Jackson, a three-time Pro Bowl running back during his 12 seasons in the NFL, experienced the turnover with the Rams and briefly enjoyed the Patriots way.Selected by the Rams in the first round of the 2004 draft, Jackson had eight straight 1,000-yard rushing seasons for St. Louis. But he didn’t appear in a playoff game after his rookie year until he signed with the Patriots late in the 2015 season.Jackson scored his only career playoff touchdown in the AFC championship game against Denver. New England hasn’t lost a title game since that one.“I played for six of those coaches. The turnover, I had to endure that and then to end my career in New England and see the longevity and how well they know each other, you could see why they’re successful,” Jackson said.“You could see why they know what plays to call, what Tom runs well, what the other defensive unit runs well because they have the continuity there, they haven’t had a lot of change and they run the same offense and defense still.”Between Kurt Warner to Jared Goff, the Rams went from Marc Bulger to Case Keenum. Sam Bradford was supposed to be the answer when he was drafted No. 1 overall in 2010. But Bradford never had a winning season and was traded to Philadelphia for Nick Foles in 2015 after tearing his ACL two straight seasons.Guys such as Gus Frerotte, Chris Chandler, A.J. Feeley and Sean Mannion have started for the Rams over the past 17 seasons. Even Trent Green came back and lined up under center one more time for the Rams in 2008 after his injury in 1999 opened the door for Warner to begin his Hall of Fame career.Coaches included Mike Martz, Jim Haslett, Steve Spagnuolo and Jeff Fisher. The Rams had a revolving door until Sean McVay took over as coach in 2017 and led them to consecutive NFC West titles with Goff, the No. 1 overall pick in 2016.McVay marvels at New England’s accomplishments over the past two decades.“When you look at these guys and what they’ve done in terms of consistency, where that’s really the truest measurement of performance, and nobody’s done it better than they have over the last handful of years, that’s why you have so much respect and appreciation for them,” McVay said.Brady has certainly evolved since leading the Patriots to an upset over the “Greatest Show on Turf” version of the Rams for his first Super Bowl championship. At 41, he relies more on his wisdom and knowledge.“I think the preparation is different but in some ways it’s easier for me because I’m very efficient in what my routine is because when I was a young player you’re studying, you’re watching tape but you don’t really know what you are looking for,” Brady said.“Now I have a plan every time I want to sit down and study, how to understand an opponent, how to understand coverages, how they work and how to put together a plan with (offensive coordinator) Josh (McDaniels) that we can have confidence in. I was so young and naive and as a young player. I’m probably a little less naive now but I still love the competition. I still love trying to win football games. It’s the first love of my life and I’m still enjoying it now.”Brady has always credited his longevity to his rigorous training with Alex Guerrero. He insists he’s playing beyond this season and wants to keep going until he’s 45.“A lot of work that has been done with Alex over the past 15 years has given me that opportunity and I feel like that’s something I owe myself to see how I can keep pushing the envelope because it is unchartered territory and when you’re in uncharted territory, you are trying to prove things to yourself, too,” Brady said.“I’m very confident in my routine. I feel great this time of year. There’s nothing I’m dealing with and part of it is being in a good place mentally and physically.“The reality is I don’t think many people thought I would be playing like this, even though I had a great belief that I would.”
Davis said he made his decision when the team signed him to a contract extension through 2018. He said he had been seeking an extension through 2019.
”For me, it was a no-brainer,” Davis said. ”Like, `This is how long they want me here for.’ This is how much time I have to dedicate to this organization to try to win a Super Bowl, and that’s my mindset.”
In 2014, Davis was named the league’s Walter Payton Man of the Year. Sandwiched around that honor were All-Pro honors in 2013 and 2015. During the last six seasons, Davis has missed just three games despite the last of three ACL repairs.
After the Panthers lost to the New Orleans Saints in the playoffs last weekend, Davis said he expects to have a reduced role in 2018 as Shaq Thompson gets more time.
Davis was suspended for one game late in the season for a helmet-to-helmet hit on Green Bay Packers receiver Davante Adams.
If you've clicked on this list, then it means you have major courage and you're alright with seeing your eyes bleed. We commend you for your bravery and we'd offer you something to help your eyes, but we've already cleared every store possible out of such items.Fine Max Scharping Jersey , not all of these jerseys are that ugly and unappealing - some are just too bland - but when you're talking awful sports uniforms, those disclaimers need to be said. All it takes is one disgusting jersey set to make one vomit through their ear, bleed from their eye, want to jump into oncoming traffic on Interstate 95......wait, I-95 is usually pretty backed up. Florida's Turnpike, then.Because we're using 'recent' to define this list http://www.thetexansfootballauthentic.com/kahale-warring-jersey-authentic , we may as well set up some ground rules.- There are no current NFL jerseys on this list, meaning those who wanted to see me rail on the Jacksonville Jaguars and Cleveland Browns' modern looks will be disappointed. Make no mistake, though - they are indeed on this list, but for other jerseys.- Any jersey sets will have had to be used more than once, so the Philadelphia Eagles 2007 monstrosities that were used only once (in a week three game against the Detroit Lions) do NOT make the list. However, any jerseys that were included in the 2009 AFL anniversary set are eligible because they were part of a two-for-one deal.- Any ugly patches that were put on regular jerseys (i.e. an anniversary patch) are not included. If you're willing to cause your eyes pain Cullen Gillaspia Jersey , let's do this.
We're halfway through the 2018 NFL regular season http://www.jaguarsauthorizedshops.com/authentic-quincy-williams-ii-jersey , and we now have an idea as to which teams will be Super Bowl/playoff contenders, and which ones are destined to disappoint us in 2018.We also have seen more than enough to determine which offseason free agent signings have panned out, and which ones have been major flops. As is the case with every NFL season, some of the low-key and cheap signings have turned out to be major steals, while some of the most high-profile and expensive free agent acquisitions have simply flopped. The 2018 market was highlighted by a bundle of potential starting quarterbacks - Kirk Cousins, Sam Bradford and Case Keenum. Teddy Bridgewater, Josh McCown and Robert Griffin III also landed contracts, though none of them have wound up starting this season, and they probably won't see the playing time they had hoped for. This year's market was also big for offensive linemen and wide receivers Ryquell Armstead Jersey , and a handful of slightly above-average players got paid like they were Pro Bowlers. Unsurprisingly, the bulk of these signings have simply failed, and it shouldn't surprise anybody if some of them wind up being cut after this season. There are no more short sample sizes. We've seen more than enough from the top free agent signings of 2018 to determine if they've been successful or if they've been disappointments. And thanks to the wonderful people at Pro Football focus, we have the grade scales and data to determine if they've been of good value or not. Here are 10 free agent signings that have thrived, and 10 that have been major flops. The Arizona Diamondbacks didn’t waste any time breaking this game open.
Ketel Marte and Alex Avila each hit two-run homers and the Diamondbacks scored eight runs in the first three innings to power their way to a 9-3 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Thursday night.
”We just did a good job of being aggressive in the zone,” Arizona center fielder Jon Jay said. ”You saw guys put some good barrels on balls and we were ready to hit right from the start.”
Marte’s blast capped a three-run first, while Avila’s shot in the third extended the NL West-leading Diamondbacks’ advantage to 8-0.
Jay doubled in each of the first two innings, the second of which drove in two runs. The center fielder is hitting .340 in 13 games since being acquired June 6 from Kansas City in a trade.
”I feel very fortunate to have been traded here,” Jay said. ”It’s a great group of guys who know how to go about their business. You can see why this team is successful.”
”A lot of times it’s hard to pitch in games like this because you can lose your concentration with the big lead, but he kept making pitches,” Arizona manager Torey Lovullo said.
Godley, though, said he didn’t feel any pressure in trying to hold the eight-run advantage.
”Heck, I’ll take eight runs in the first three innings every time,” he said with a smile.
Avila finished with three RBIs as he also doubled home a run in the ninth. The veteran catcher entered the game hitting .109.
Chad Kuhl (5-5) lasted just two-plus innings and was lifted following Avila’s homer. Kuhl was tagged for eight runs and eight hits after allowing three earned runs or less in seven of his previous eight starts.
”I don’t think balls were coming out (of his hand) as they have for whatever that reason may be,” Kuhl said. ”I just felt like tonight was a little bit different. They hammered balls over the plate. You just try your best to move on from this one.”
Kuhl was supposed to pitch Wednesday night against Milwaukee but the game was rained out after a delay of slightly more than two hours. Lovullo thought that might have worked in the Diamondbacks’ favor.
”He had to reverse his game plan,” Lovullo said. ”He thought he was starting against the Brewers and then he had less than a day to prepare for us. That’s difficult.”
Pittsburgh rookie Austin Meadows had three hits.
Daniel Descalso’s sacrifice fly brought home the game’s first run before Marte followed with his sixth home run into the right-field stands. Paul Goldschmidt singled in Jay in the second to make it 6-0.
Francisco Cervelli hit an RBI single in the fourth inning for the Pirates. Starling Marte doubled in a run and scored on Colin Moran’s sacrifice fly in the sixth.
The Diamondbacks have scored 35 runs in going 3-1 against Pittsburgh this season.
Diamondbacks: RHP Shelby Miller (Tommy John elbow ligament replacement surgery) rejoined the team following four minor league rehab starts and is scheduled to be activated from the disabled list Monday to pitch at Miami. Pirates: RHP Ivan Nova (4-5, 4.42) has won both starts with a 1.54 ERA since being activated from the DL on June 10. He missed two weeks with a sprained right ring finger.
The current landscape of the NFL is more interesting than it has been in a long time. There are a bevy of great quarterbacks in the league Josh Allen Jersey , a mix between veterans and youth, showing that the transformation into a pure "passing league" has fully come into its own. Additionally, there are plenty of entertaining head coaches http://www.thejaguarsfootballauthentic.com/jawaan-taylor-jersey-authentic , storylines, and skilled players on both sides of the ball to keep the league entertaining on a weekly basis. This means that the possibilities are endless as to who exactly will succeed and fail in the coming years, but considering all of it T.J. Hockenson Jersey , we are able to estimate what may end up happening.Picking a Super Bowl winner before the start of any given season is a difficult task. Picking one years down the line is almost impossible. Still, if certain teams stay on their current trajectories, we can ascertain at least a relatively decent idea of who will hoist the Lombardi Trophy in the proceeding seasons. We learned a lot about various contenders during this past season Jahlani Tavai Jersey , and teams that are right on the brink. Let's get an idea of who will be making it to the Super Bowl over the long haul, and which ones will come away victorious.Ranked below are predictions of the winner and loser of the next eight Super Bowls. San Francisco Giants third baseman Evan Longoria is going on the disabled list after injuring his left hand when he was hit by a pitch at Miami.
The Giants announced the move shortly before their series opener at Dodger Stadium on Friday night.
Longoria fractured the fifth metacarpal in his hand in the fourth inning of the Giants’ 16-inning victory over the Marlins a day earlier. He remained in the game as a runner before being caught in a double play. He was replaced defensively in the bottom of the inning.
Longoria said after the game that the last time he broke a bone in his wrist he went to the World Series in 2008 with Tampa Bay.
He is tied for the Giants’ lead with 34 RBIs, is second with 10 home runs and is tied for second with 27 extra-base hits.
The NFL entertains and brings people together on Sundays like no other sport. The league has considered many expansion efforts through the years http://www.raiderscheapshops.com/cheap-authentic-isaiah-johnson-jersey , but the cost of building a suitable stadium is usually the biggest roadblock that stands in the way. Some cities might not have the funds and infrastructure necessary to support an NFL team, but still earn points for this list for being deserving of one.The following metropolitan areas make a strong case for hosting an NFL team. Many of them have healthy potential fan bases, television audiences, have very little competition to dilute the product and might even have experience with other professional sports franchises. Unfortunately, deserving and fan potential doesn’t necessarily equate to having the proper funding and facilities to accommodate an NFL team. Strong support is an essential ingredient to being able to overcome such shortcomings. The population counts of the metropolitan areas are based on figures from the 2010 U.S. Census, while television markets are from the September 1, 2013 Nielson Company estimates. Starting with the locations earning honorable mention, there is something each metropolitan area could bring to the NFL’s table.Honorable Mention:Honolulu – Football crazed Hawaiians would support an NFL team and fanatical football fans could lead a push to upgrade or replace aging Aloha Stadium. Even with support, other problems would be the unfavorable time zone and travel on east-west trips.London – The NFL would love to expand overseas and London has expressed interest. The travel and establishing a foothold in a foreign country are all major concerns. It would not be easy for west coast teams.Orlando – A big metropolitan area and TV audience await any prospective NFL team, but another NFL team in Florida is hard to imagine with Jacksonville struggling to fill seats. Orlando is not that far away from Jacksonville either.Milwaukee – The city of beer and the state of cheese could support another NFL team, but the state is home to the Packers who used to play a couple of home games each season in County Stadium. Would not be easy, but a worthy candidate.Las Vegas – Sin City would be the perfect place for an NFL team, but how that would mix with the Las Vegas betting action remains to be seen. The potential for corruption would be too much of a concern for the NFL. A pair of rookies helped the Giants get their weekend in Arizona off to a winning start.
Andrew Suarez pitched six strong innings, Austin Slater had a pair of RBI doubles and San Francisco beat the Diamondbacks 2-1 on Friday night.
Suarez (3-4), a 25-year-old left-hander, gave up a run Foster Moreau Jersey , scattering seven hits in his first win in five starts. The left-hander struck out five and walked two.
Five of the singles Suarez allowed were infield hits, including one that died halfway down the third-base line, an inch or two off the chalk.
”It was just weird,” Suarez said of the infield hit spree. ”I’ve never seen it like that. But it worked out thankfully. It could have been way worse and they’d have scored five or six runs.”
Suarez is among the young pitchers who are filling in well for the Giants while the veteran starters work their way back to health.
”We have difficult decisions the way these kids are throwing,” San Francisco manager Bruce Bochy said. ”As I said so many times, they’re doing what you’d hope they would do, is make the decision tough.”
Slater, recalled from Triple-A Sacramento four times this season – most recently last Saturday – doubled in a run off Patrick Corbin in the second and knocked in the go-ahead score off Andrew Chafin (1-3) in the seventh. Slater, who entered the game 4 for 15 in the majors this season, also singled.
He’s become accustomed to the back-and-forth trips to Sacramento.
”The first couple of times up and down it’s easy to lose focus,” Slater said, ”but for me, I see it as a way to try to prove a point, that I was here to stay.”
One of these trips, after a few more of these nights, he may be right.
Chafin, relieving Corbin in a 1-1 tie, walked Brandon Crawford, who scored from first when Slater doubled to the right-center gap.
Corbin limited San Francisco to a run on four hits, striking out five and walking one in six innings, but left with his second straight no decision. In his previous outing, Corbin blanked Pittsburgh on three hits for seven innings and matched his career strikeout best with 12. Corbin last won on June 5 at San Francisco.
”Patrick was great today,” Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said. ”He did everything we asked him to do. Would have sent him back out there in the seventh inning to get couple of hitters but we decided to pinch-hit for him. Unfortunately, one of the hazards of the National League game, but he did a great job and gave us a chance to win the game.”
The NL West-leading Diamondbacks opened a 10-game homestand after an 8-2 trip.
The Giants took a 1-0 lead in the second. Buster Posey led off with a single and took second when Chris Owings bobbled the ball in center. Slater brought Posey home with a one-out double.
The Diamondbacks finally got to Suarez tied it in the sixth. Ketel Marte led off with a double to the fence in right-center. Owings was called out on a groundout to third on a close play. Arizona challenged and the call was overturned after a video review, leaving runners at first and third and no outs. Jake Lamb’s sacrifice fly to left brought home Marte and made it 1-all.
Giants: RHP Johnny Cueto (right elbow strain) made his second rehab start Friday night for Triple-A Sacramento.
Diamondbacks: CF A.J. Pollock (fractured left thumb) made his first rehab start, with Triple-A Reno.
Yoshihisa Hirano set a Diamondbacks record with his 25th consecutive appearance without allowing a run, getting the final two outs of the seventh inning. The Japanese right-hander broke the previous record of 24 shared by Brandon Lyon (2008) and J.J. Putz (2012).
It’s tied with Shigetoshi Hasegawa of Seattle (2003) for second-longest streak in the majors by a Japanese-born pitcher. Koji Uehara of Boston had 27 straight scoreless appearances in 2011.
Giants RHP Derek Rodriguez (2-1, 3.82 ERA) makes his sixth major league start. San Francisco has won four of his previous five. Arizona RHP Shelby Miller (0-1, 12.27) makes his second start since returning from Tommy John surgery in the second game of the three-game weekend series.
There is no question that Ndamukong Suh is one of the most intense Bobby Okereke Jersey , disruptive, and dominating forces on the defensive side of the ball in the NFL today. He and J.J. Watt of the Houston Texans stand alone as near forces of nature in their ability to wreak havoc on every single play from scrimmage. Both have the ability – which they show off often – to blow up plays before they begin, and can nearly single-handedly turn the tide of a game.Suh has the combination of size, speed, toughness – along with a healthy dose of mean and nasty – that makes defensive coordinators drool and opposing quarterbacks wet themselves. And unlike Watt, he also happens to be an unrestricted free agent, which gives him the ability to sell his services to anybody he so desires. In what seems like a breath of fresh air for his candor and honesty Khari Willis Jersey , Suh has made it clear that he's going to go to the team that ponies up the most cash. He's on record as saying that his agent will be picking the next team he plays for – which is essentially saying, he's going to wear the colors of the team that gives him the fattest payday.Of course, signing Suh comes with its liabilities. He has a penchant for drawing penalties, fines, as well as suspensions, for his habit of stomping on players on the ground. So it's up to the teams to decide whether or not the risks are worth the reward.Spoiler alert, they are.So with money being the biggest determining factor in Suh's next address Josh Allen Jersey , we turn our attention to the teams who have the most to spend. Tampa Bay Buccaneers DT Gerald McCoy recently signed a $95 million dollar contract, and based just on the body of work of both players, Suh's price tag is likely going to be north of $100 million. That's big money, and not every team has it. Though some teams will have to get creative with the numbers and the restructuring of existing contracts for a shot at the big man, there truly are only a handful that have a legitimate shot to land him.So who is likeliest to land this force of nature on their defensive line in 2015? Let's take a look based on cash available and need... Seeking stability amid an uncertain future, the Carolina Panthers signed coach Ron Rivera to a two-year contract extension on Saturday.
A person with knowledge of the situation told The Associated Press the extension is worth $15.5 million over two seasons. The person spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity because the team didn’t release financial details of the contract.
Rivera has one year remaining on his existing contract, so the new deal keeps him with the Panthers through the 2020 season.
Rivera is 64-47-1 in seven seasons with the Panthers. He has guided Carolina to a Super Bowl appearance Jawaan Taylor Jersey , three NFC South titles and four playoff appearances. He has twice been named The Associated Press NFL Coach of the Year.
The Panthers (11-5) visit the New Orleans Saints (11-5) on Sunday in an NFC wild-card game.
”I’m very excited about it because I really like where we are as a football team,” Rivera said in a statement. ”We’ve done some really good things and we have an opportunity to do more. Things are in place and we can continue this success. We’ve had consistency of winning and we’ve gone to the playoffs four out of five years.”
Rivera has been a rock for an organization in the midst of change. Panthers president Danny Morrison resigned last year and general manager Dave Gettleman was fired on the eve of training camp by team owner Jerry Richardson.
Then Richardson came under investigation by the NFL for alleged sexual and racial misconduct in the workplace and announced he is selling the team after the season is over following an inflammatory report by Sports Illustrated. It’s unclear if the new owners will keep the team in Charlotte.
On the field, the Panthers have been fairly consistent outside of a disappointing 6-10 season a year ago.
Rivera oversaw an NFC-record 18-game regular-season winning streak that spanned the 2014 and 2015 seasons and led to Carolina’s Super Bowl appearance in 2015, which they lost 24-10 to the Denver Broncos. Carolina’s .576 winning percentage during Rivera’s tenure is seventh best in the NFL during that time.
Rivera was brought to Carolina for his defensive expertise, and the Panthers put together four consecutive top-10 finishes in yards allowed from 2012-15, joining Seattle as the only teams to do so. Carolina is ranked seventh in defense this season.
Its defense finished third in the NFL with 50 sacks during the regular season, and it is the only team in the NFL to not allow an individual 100-yard rusher in any game this season. The Panthers set a franchise record by going 20 consecutive games without allowing a 100-yard individual rusher Josh Oliver Jersey , the longest active streak in the league.
Carolina’s offense has finished in the top 10 in the NFL in yards rushing per game in six of the past seven seasons, including a fourth-place mark this season at 131.4 yards per game.
”This is a tremendous place with tremendous support from ownership and the people that work in the organization,” Rivera said. ”And I really appreciate the support we’ve gotten from our fans in the Carolinas. That’s a big reason why I want to continue my association with this organization.”
The Panthers have developed plenty of stars under Rivera.
Carolina has produced 28 Pro Bowl and 18 All-Pro selections, including four-time All-Pro linebacker Luke Kuechly and 2015 NFL MVP Cam Newton.
Rivera played nine seasons with the Chicago Bears and was a member of the 1985 Super Bowl XX winning team.
The Toronto Maple Leafs have been operating under the belief that this is their year. The talent level has increased quite a bit in the last three seasons Jesper Bratt Jersey Kids , and adding free-agent prize John Tavares during the summer has upped the excitement level considerably for an Original Six team that has been yearning for its first Stanley Cup since 1967.It has been a strange start to the season for the Maple Leafs at 9-5-0, second behind the Tampa Bay Lightning in the Eastern Conference. It's a strange start because they are 3-5-0 at home and a perfect 6-0-0 on the road. While the talent level is high, it could be quite a bit higher if William Nylander was in uniform. Theforward held out of camp throughout the month of September in a contract dispute, and he has shown a combination of resolve and stubbornness as he has continued to stay away from the team.Holdouts of this length are unusual in the NHL, and the Leafs could use a 22-year-old right wing who has scored 61 points in back-to-back seasons. The Leafs need to find a resolution before the league's December 1 deadline for signing Group 2 free agents, so a trade is a legitimate possibility if both sides remain unwilling to give. NHL insider Elliotte Friedman reported on a Hockey Night in Canadasegment that the Carolina Hurricanes are "all-in" when it comes to acquiring Nylander.Columbus Blue Jackets goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky has made it clear that he does not want to remain with the team, according to a report from Friedman on Sportsnet radio.Bobrovsky has not been on good terms with the team since the summer, when he blew off a meeting with general manager Jarmo Kekalainen. Friedman reported that Bobrovsky wants out of Columbus, but that is not necessarily what the team wants because he is one of the best goaltenders in the league when he is happy and on his game.If the two sides can't figure out their issues, the New York Islanders may be the team that has the best chance of working out a deal for the reigning Vezina Trophy winner. This looks like another year where the Detroit Red Wings will be rebuilding. If that is the case Leo Komarov Jersey Womens , the Red Wings could trade some of their bigger-name players for young talent or draft picks. One of the players who could be traded is forward Gustav Nyquist, who will be a free agent at the end of the season.Rather than lose Nyquist in the offseason, he could be traded for future assets just as Brendan Smith was traded in 2017 and Tomas Tatar was moved last year.Nyquist has a no-trade contract, but he could be moved if he agrees to it."It's a business and that's part of the game,"Nyquist said, per Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press. "I'm sure my name will pop up. It will be a little bit new situation for me because this is my last year of the contract. It's different, but it's nothing I've thought about. He was firing the puck well. It looked like he was more comfortable handling it in traffic.”Coming off a 3-1 road trip but disappointed after blowing a two-goal lead Monday night against NHL-best Tampa Bay, the Bruins broke it open with four goals in the third period for their 12th consecutive victory at home. It’s their longest streak since winning 14 straight during the 2008-09 season.Pastrnak completed his fourth career hat trick and third this season with a power-play goal to make it 4-2 with 7:08 to play, triggering a flow of hats that littered the ice. It came off a nice setup from David Krejci, who cut around Rangers defenseman Tony DeAngelo and shifted from forehand to backhand before slipping a cross-ice pass to the winger, who sent a one-timer into the net from the right circle.Pastrnak then made a beautiful cross-ice pass to DeBrusk, who made it a two-goal lead 3:19 into the third. With the Rangers short-handed following their first too-many-men-on-the-ice penalty, Pastrnak one-timed a feed from Brad Marchand, moving Boston ahead 2:48 into the game. The Rangers tied it with a power-play goal of their own when Strome sent Zibanejad in alone and he reached back to slip a forehand behind Halak as he was moving across the edge of the crease at 16:29 of the first period.NOTES: The Bruins announced they’ve reached a 10-year agreement with their AHL affiliate in Providence Jonathan Huberdeau Jersey , Rhode Island. The Eagles got one offensive starter back in the lineup last week and they could have another make his 2018 debut against the Titans this week.Eagles head coach Doug Pederson said at the start of his Wednesday press conference that wide receiver Alshon Jeffery has been cleared for contact. That was the final medical milestone for Jeffery to hit in his return from offseason shoulder surgery.Pederson said the team has yet to make a decision about whether or not Jeffery will play against Tennessee. The wideout was listed as questionable for last Sunday’s game against the Colts despite not having full clearance http://www.thetitanslockerroom.com/authentic-luke-stocker-jersey , so it would seem like a decent bet that he’ll play if all goes well at practice the next three days. With quarterback Carson Wentz returning to the lineup for the Indianapolis game and running backs Jay Ajayi and Darren Sproles trending toward returns, the Eagles should have all hands on deck offensively in the near future. Voters broke a logjam at cornerback, and began working on the glut of offensive linemen, as three first-time eligible finalists were voted to the Pro Football Hall of Fame Saturday.Tight end Tony Gonzalez, safety Ed Reed, and cornerback Champ Bailey made it through in their first year, and were joined in the class by cornerback Ty Law and center Kevin Mawae.Mawae and Law were in their third year of eligibility. They were joined by a pair of contributor nominees (Broncos owner Pat Bowlen and former Cowboys scout Gil Brandt), along with one seniors nominee (Chiefs safety Johnny Robinson).Without a truly controversial nominee (such as Paul Tagliabue or Terrell Owens), the meeting moved at a quicker pace than recent years, lasting seven hours, 50 minutes. While sometimes players at the same position can cancel each other out, it didn’t become an either-or decision on Law and Bailey. Mawae was able to push through a crowded field of blockers, as tackle Tony Boselli and guards Alan Faneca and Steve Hutchinson were in the final 10 Taywan Taylor Jersey White , along with safety Steve Atwater and running back Edgerrin James. Those eliminated in the first cut from 15 to 10 were coaches Don Coryell and Tom Flores, wide receiver Isaac Bruce, defensive end Richard Seymour, and safety John Lynch. The offensive linemen, James, and Atwater stand a decent chance next year, as the group of first-time eligible players isn’t as strong as years past. Safety Troy Polamalu leads the list, along with wide receiver Reggie Wayne and linebacker Patrick Willis. A deeper group is coming up in 2021, when Peyton Manning, Charles Woodson, and Calvin Johnson will be eligible.

San Francisco is heading to Phoenix Aaron Burbridge Jersey , AR in search of their second win of the season, looking to defeat rookie quarterback Josh Rosen and the Cardinals. Just a few weeks ago, the Cardinals visited Levi’s Stadium, but were able to escape with a victory, after quarterback C.J. Beathard and the 49ers’ offense committed five turnovers. Kyle Shanahan’s offense out-played Arizona’s defense in all facets of the game, racking up nearly 450 yards of offense and 33 first downs — but five giveaways were the difference in the game. The 49ers will seek revenge on Sunday and here are three keys that will help them overcome Arizona.1. Protect, protect, protectTurnover issues have plagued the 49ers all season long, giving opponents’ 18 extra possessions in 2018. A couple of weeks ago, San Francisco gifted Arizona five extra cracks on offense and that was the difference in the ball game. Two Beathard interceptions, two Beathard fumbles and a Mostert fumble were all game-changing plays against the Cardinals the first time around. The 49ers can’t afford to be that careless with the ball, especially on the road.Shanahan and his offense have had ball protection issues all year, but if they’re to find their second win of the season, they’ll need to hold onto the football on Sunday.2. Limit running back David Johnson’s effectivenessWith a rookie quarterback manning the Cardinals’ offense, all the defensive attention has been focused on running back David Johnson. As a result, Johnson’s numbers have slipped this season, averaging just 3.2 yards per carry, down from his career average of 4.1 yards per carry. In the Cardinals’ first meeting against the 49ers, defensive coordinator Robert Saleh created a scheme to limit Johnson to 55 yards on 18 carries. The box score may show a pair of touchdowns for Johnson, but there were a lot of goal line carries that gave way for that.San Francisco’s defense should play the same run defense against Johnson and force Rosen to beat them. If they’re going to lose on Sunday, it certainly shouldn’t come at the hands of the superstar running back.3. Unleash running back Raheem Mostert’s speed on the Cardinals’ defenseWith running back Matt Breida listed as questionable and still bothered by injuries Jimmie Ward Jersey , Shanahan and the 49ers have turned to third-string running back Raheem Mostert for backfield relief. Mostert has delivered, rushing for 59 and 87 yards, against the Rams and Packers, respectively. The 26-year old has used his quick burst and speed to attack opposing rushing defenses and find gaping holes. The Cardinals come into Sunday with the 32nd-ranked run defense in terms of yards, so the 49ers should let Breida and Mostert be the focus of the offense, not Beathard. In their first meeting, Beathard attempted 54 passes, while the running backs only rushed 34 times. Shanahan should avoid that imbalance and utilize Mostert to find holes in the Swiss-cheese like Cardinals’ rushing defense. PDTShareTweetShareShareNFL Draft Profile: How Christian Wilkins fits with the 49ersMatthew Emmons-USA TODAY SportsGreetings Faithful! We are getting closer to the 2019 NFL Draft. Today, we are going to take a closer look at defensive tackle Christian Wilkins of Clemson. While the San Francisco 49ers have made a lot of investments addressing the defensive line we have learned in this league that there truly isn’t a thing as too much depth. The question is, should a prospect such as Christian Wilkins drop to the second round, would the 49ers pounce and select him? Just in case they do, here is a closer look at the defensive tackle out of Clemson.Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY SportsChristian Wilkins was not only a defensive star on the field for Clemson, but off of it as well. He earned All-American honors, while playing a significant role for Clemson towards two national championships (Both against national power-house Alabama), and for his work on the Clemson defensive line. Off the field Wilkins made a positive difference in the lives of young students serving as a substitute teacher during the off-season. Christian Wilkins is a well-rounded prospect and everything you would want when looking to add talent and personality to your locker room. He is the kind of player any franchise would want on their roster. Not only did he graduate early and return to Clemson for his senior season, he spent the offseason substituting inside school classrooms and being a positive role model for students of all ages. In 2018 Wilkins had 51 tackles Bradley Pinion Jersey , with 1 forced fumble loss and 6 sacks. Wilkins has good burst and speed off the snap and makes an impact and presence in the opposition’s backfield. Wilkins has a natural blend of upper and lower body strength. He is often double teamed along the line of scrimmage and makes an impact that helps his fellow defensive lineman make plays. Wilkins has demonstrated an ability to stop the run and the pass. Wilkins can be looked at as a three down defensive lineman. On tape, more often than not, Wilkins causes disruption at the point of attack. He has demonstrated his ability to rush the passer from the inside, which looks to be his natural position as he transitions to the next level. Has experience as a base end and defensive tackle. Has great burst on the snap with quick hands on the initial contact. Wilkins has great flexibility and finds the tight and awkward angles when creating pocket pressure.Wilkins will run fluidly through his hips when crashing the pocket. Wilkins has a knack for the football, batting down 15 passes during his career. Lastly, he had a tremendous locker room presence during his time at Clemson, and has demonstrated his ability to be a leader both on and off the field. Wilkins has a lot of pride, and came back to Clemson this past season, instead of going pro, so he could win another national championship. Wilkins has dedication and the heart of a champion. Is Wilkins a fit for the 49ers?At the moment, the defensive line, particularly the interior seem set. However, the 49ers are one trade away from changing that narrative. As I mentioned earlier, in this league you can never have too much depth at any position. Should the 49ers decide to move on from Arik Armstead or Solomon Thomas for any reason, then Wilkins could be an intriguing prospect. However, if the 49ers have their sights set on Wilkins they might need to trade into the backend of the first round (Should Wilkins drop that far). Again, at the moment, the 49ers seem set on the interior defensive line. However, I believe Wilkins would be a great addition to the 49errs defense should the team part ways with Armstead or Thomas. Keep a close eye on Wilkins should these scenarios happen. Wilkins is the perfect blend of on-field talent and off-field personality that any time would crave for. What are YOUR thoughts on Christian Wilkins? If the team were to trade Solomon Thomas or Arik Armstead would you be interested in selecting Christian Wilkins? Please share in the comments below!
NFL Power Rankings Womens Brett Hundley Jersey , Week 6: Seahawks can’t really move up or down, right? This is a continuation of a power rankings article where I don’t tell you the status of all 32 teams, only one.In last week’s power rankings, I guesstimated that the Seattle Seahawks must be like the 20th best team in the NFL, or so. That doesn’t put them near the upper echelon of teams, but then again, what is the upper echelon of pro football right now? You’ve got the LA Rams, the New Orleans Saints, and the Kansas City Chiefs on top. Even then, the Saints and Chiefs have had atrocious defensive performances this season. Next you have the Chicago Bears, who were terrible on offense up until an opportunity came knocking in the form of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and the Cincinnati Bengals, who are still led by Andy Dalton last time I checked. Can you really bank on teams with Mitchell Trubisky, Dalton, Blake Bortles, Marcus Mariota, Joe Flacco Tre Flowers Jersey Green , or Ryan Tannehill? Additionally, I’m just not going to get aboard the Cam train and the Carolina Panthers only squeezed by the New York Giants in the form of a 63-yard field goal.Somehow I’ve started to convince myself that the Seahawks should move up the rankings, but to what end?Putting Seattle in the top half of the league sort of undercuts the fact that only a week ago they looked like the league’s worst offense against the then-winless Arizona Cardinals. While we can’t overrate their near-win over the Rams, we also can’t underrate their near-loss to the Cardinals. The best solution for Seattle: just win all four quarters against the Oakland Raiders this week. The Seahawks don’t need a bad win or a good loss, they need a good win. They need to play the way they played on Sunday, just against a much, much, significantly worse team. Win by 20. Then they can move up from 20, which is about where I guess they still are.The rest of the league has left the door wide open. Back on Wednesday I posted an article pondering what the 2019 season would look like for the Seattle Seahawks if Russell Wilson were not at the helm, and the results were pretty much in line with..."Back on Wednesday I posted an article pondering what the 2019 season would look like for the Seattle Seahawks if Russell Wilson were not at the helm, and the results were pretty much in line with what I expected. Field Gulls readers who responded to the poll had a slightly more optimistic outlook for a season played without Wilson at the helm, but it is still a stretch by any measure to state that fans believe things would be fine even without Wilson for 2019. In any case, here is how Field Gulls readers responded to the poll (as of Saturday morning Pacific Time; the poll will continue for several more days though it’s likely the majority of voters who will vote have already done so). So, 88% of respondents felt that the Seahawks are a .500 or worse team without Wilson in 2019, which was slightly better than how those who responded to the poll on Twitter felt the team would finish in such a situation. Here are the final results of the Twitter poll just as a reminder. What these results lead me to question is how much meaning do Pete Carroll and his coaching skill carry for the team? If he is such a great defensive coach, and was in charge of creating the first defense in NFL history that was the number one scoring defense for four seasons in a row, shouldn’t a team he coaches be better than 6-10 in the absence of the franchise quarterback? In the two seasons prior to Wilson’s arrival Russell Wilson Jersey , Carroll managed more than six wins in each individual campaign. Further, he now has some of the key components of his rebuilt defense reaching the point in their careers where they should start to blossom and develop into potential stars. The upcoming 2019 season is set to be the third season of starting for cornerback Shaquill Griffin and the second season as a starter for his counterpart on the flip side of the defense, Tre Flowers. Add in defensive end Frank Clark and Jarran Reed truly breaking out in 2018, Quinton Jefferson and Branden Jackson showing their own development, and the potential for a deep corps of linebackers in Bobby Wagner, K.J. Wright and Mychal Kendricks, and there at least appears to be a recipe for much of the defense to potentially be very good. And very good would be an improvement for the Seahawks defenses of the past couple of seasons, as both the 2017 and 2018 versions of the defense failed to crack the top ten. Injuries and youth obviously played a very large part of both of those results, but what is the expectation for the Seattle defense in 2019? Will they return to form as a top flight defense? Will they continue to to perform as a middling defense as they miss the star players who have been lost to age, injury and free agency in recent years? Or will they, for some reason or another, see a decline in performance in a below average defense? During his nine seasons in the Northwest Carroll has only seen one of his defenses finish in the bottom half of the league in scoring, and that was during his first year with the Hawks in 2010. Thus, today’s question for fans is the following:
NEW YORK (AP) — Even Henrik Lundqvist was impressed with his company.Lundqvist passed Jacques Plante for seventh on NHL goaltender wins list with his 438th victory Sam Reinhart Jersey , and the New York Rangers beat the Florida Panthers 4-2 on Saturday night for their fifth consecutive home win.“To look at that list there are some really good goalies who played a huge part in the history of the game,” said Lundqvist, who had 39 saves. “It means a lot to me but as a goalie it also means you’ve been part of some really good teams.”Chris Kreider had a goal and two assists for New York, which has won three of four overall. Aaron Ekblad also scored, and Luongo made 20 saves. The 39-year-old Luongo is the only active goaltender with more wins than Lundqvist with 475. As the Pittsburgh Penguins try to fight through a month-long slump Mark Scheifele Jersey , one of their marquee forwards now finds his name in the trade rumor mill.In his latest "31 Thoughts" column, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reported that the Penguins have "tested the market" on All-Star sniper Phil Kessel. He's coming off a career year, in which Kessel scored 34 goals and 92 points. Kessel has 250 points in 272 career games with the Penguins.advertisingGeneral manager Jim Rutherford has already made one notable trade, acquiring Tanner Pearson from the Los Angeles Kings in exchange for Carl Hagelin. Rutherford warned that more moves would be on the way if the Penguins didn't turn it around, which could be why he's considering a Kessel trade. The Penguins reportedly considered trading Kessel last year, as reports of him clashing with head coach Mike Sullivan became public. He's signed through the 2021-22 season with an $8 million cap hit each year, and there won't be many takers for that contract, given聽his age. What This MeansIf the Penguins get hot and re-enter the playoff picture, then Rutherford will have little reason to consider trading his All-Star sniper. There’s a good chance Patrik Laine has already asked the NHL if the Winnipeg Jets can take road trips to Helsinki Jonathan Ericsson Jersey , Finland, more often. The 20-year-old Finn broke out of what many observers considered to be a significant slump with a natural hat-trick to pace the Jets to a 4-2 win over the Florida Panthers on Thursday evening at a sold-out crowd Hartwell Arena in Helsinki. The Jets and Panthers are in the Finnish capital as part of the 2018 NHL Global Series. They square off again on Friday.Article continues below ...Laine had scored just three goals in the first 12 games of the season — all on the power play — and his inconsistent play had seen him dropped down to the third and fourth lines for large portions of the last few games. He was second in league goal scoring last season with 44.“I don’t think you can imagine how good that feels,” Laine said at a post-game press conference. “It’s good to be home and score all those goals back here. It’s pretty awesome.”Laine was particularly ineffective during two losses over the last eight days to the Toronto Maple Leafs, during which he did not compare well with Leafs center Auston Matthews, the top pick in the 2016 draft, one spot ahead of Laine. Most fans at the Hartwell Arena were there to see one of two players, Laine or Aleksander Barkov, 23, of the Panthers. Both were born in Tampere, a two-hour drive from Helsinki. The two were far enough apart in age as juniors that they didn’t know each other growing up but they did wear their country’s colors together at the 2016 IIHF World Championships. Barkov Womens Justin Abdelkader Jersey , the Panthers’ captain, played a strong game on Thursday but wasn’t nearly as prominent on the scoresheet. He registered one assist on a goal by defenseman Keith Yandle in the first period.“Overall, as a team, we played good in their zone,” Barkov said at his own post-game press conference. “We have another game (Friday) and we have to concentrate on that.”Barkov will make the highlight packages, however, as Jets defenseman Dustin Byfuglien caught him with a legal shoulder check midway through the second period as he looked back for a pass in the Jets zone. Barkov crumpled to the ice and was slow to get up before going directly to the Panthers bench. He finished the game.Former Jets 1.0 star and Finnish hockey legend Teemu Selanne helped whip the crowd up into a frenzy when he dropped the puck for the ceremonial face-off.The Panthers outshot the Jets 38-35 but got out to an impressive 9-0 lead but had nothing to show for it. Jets winger Mathieu Perreault opened the scoring late in the first period.Once the English-speaking reporters were finished asking questions, Laine was left behind to answer their Finnish counterparts. As Byfuglien got up to leave he jokingly told Laine, “we’re not going to hold the bus for you.” When Rasmus Dahlin put pen to paper on his first NHL contract, the reverberations carried to Gothenburg and Lidkoping in his native Sweden. The No. 1 overall pick signing with the Buffalo Sabres earned Sweden more than $250 Luke Glendening Jersey ,000 to put back into development.“It’s unreal,” Dahlin said. “We need all the money we can get.”Last year alone, the NHL paid more than $35 million in transfer fees as teams signed European players. There are agreements in place with all the major hockey-producing countries except Russia and Switzerland that allow the free flow of players to the best league in the world.“The purpose I suppose is to help prime the pump for hockey development,” deputy NHL Commissioner Bill Daly said. “The pool of players who can play in the National Hockey League continues to increase on a regular basis. … There’s more better players than ever before.”When the world junior championship begins Wednesday in Canada, it will be a showcase of that emerging talent spurred along in Europe and North America by this money. The NHL also sends junior leagues in Canada and the United States over $12 million annually and provides financial support for USA Hockey. That feeder system is partially responsible for the game’s explosion of young talent in recent years. Nowhere is that more evident than Sweden, which received roughly $8 million last year for Dahlin and more than 30 other players signing NHL contracts.“That money is obviously huge,” said Detroit Red Wings defenseman Niklas Kronwall, who is Swedish. “It doesn’t just go to the pro teams. I think it funnels down to your first team and the teams that are developing you and have been taking you on this ride. And that money is doing the same for the next generation of players: setting up with the right facilities and the right coaches and just try to surround them with the best circumstances that they can so they can succeed. That’s one of the reasons why Sweden’s been able to keep producing players.”The investment makes sense for the NHL, which currently has players from 16 different countries. The 31 — soon to be 32 — teams split the costs equally each year. It’s beneficial for national federations and European leagues and teams, too Martin Frk Jersey , even if Swedish Hockey Association vice president Peter Forsberg had to convince those in charge it was better to make a deal with the NHL than lose players for nothing.“I told them that I think it’s better you have an agreement because then we have impact in the kind of discussions,” said Forsberg, who shares the same name with the retired NHL star. “All the players who sign a contract with Swedish club or European club or whatever, they have always an out clause that they can go to the NHL. We can’t ever keep them in our league if you want to keep them in our league. We cannot sign the long contract that they do in soccer in Europe. We don’t have that kind of possibilities.”The trick is making sure the money goes to what it’s designed for. Daly, who has been in charge of transfer fees since the end of the 2004-05 lockout, said federations are responsible for reporting where the funds go because the goal is to keep churning out players who one day could make it to the NHL.The federations distribute the money to various levels as they see fit. Forsberg said 95 percent of fees go back into programs that grow the sport in Sweden.“We ensure that the money goes back to the development,” Forsberg said. “You can see that on the result that we have around 10 percent of Swedish players are today in NHL (and) that 10 percent of players in NHL are Swedes. We can see that we have a high production line.”That’s also the case in Finland, which has the league’s leading scorer in Colorado’s Mikko Rantanen and produced Winnipeg’s 43-goal scorer Patrik Laine, young Dallas defenseman Miro Heiskanen and a whole generation of emerging star players.“They take care of the players, they help players to develop them to get ready to come over http://www.officialredwings.com/authentic-adidas-mike-green-jersey ,” Buffalo defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen said. “Like you’ve seen the last few years, Finnish players are really stepping up, so it’s a credit to every team back home.”Government contributions and smart leadership have also helped hockey blossom across Europe. Kronwall credited longtime coach-turned-general manager Tommy Boustedt for setting up position-specific camps in Sweden that specifically allowed for the development of Dahlin and more modern defensemen. The NHL money paved the way for that.“We’re a hard-working country,” Dahlin said. “We’re humble. We don’t have a lot of players, but some of the guys come to the NHL and for me, a younger guy, I know that a Swedish guy can make it, too.”
